British Woman Claire Chadwick Dies in Nigeria Alongside Unborn Baby

A 40-year-old British woman, Claire Chadwick, has died in Nigeria alongside her unborn baby girl following complications during the final weeks of her pregnancy.

Chadwick, who was originally from Cardiff, Wales, was reportedly 37 weeks pregnant when the tragedy occurred. According to reports, her baby died in the womb before she developed sepsis and subsequently died from septic shock.

She had relocated from the United Kingdom to Nigeria to build a new life with her husband, Ibrahim.

Couple Shared Their Life on Social Media

Claire and Ibrahim attracted thousands of followers through videos shared on TikTok and Instagram. Their content documented their relationship, married life, faith and food challenges, giving followers a glimpse into their experiences as a couple.

Following the news, tributes have emerged from people who followed their journey online. Her sister, Shannon Chadwick, remembered Claire as a funny and strong-minded woman who enjoyed dancing and expressing herself freely.

Family Launches £10,000 Fundraiser to Bring Her Home

Following the tragedy, Claire’s family launched a GoFundMe campaign titled Bringing Claire Home to raise £10,000 for repatriation and legal expenses. The appeal was organised by her sister, Shannon, who explained that the family wanted Claire and her unborn daughter returned to the United Kingdom so they could be laid to rest close to their loved ones.

The fundraiser has since surpassed its original target, attracting support from hundreds of donors.  Claire is survived by her husband, Ibrahim, her 19-year-old son, who lives in Wales, and other relatives. Her death has prompted an outpouring of sympathy, with supporters expressing condolences to the grieving family during this difficult period.
