2027 Election Political Alignments: Sule Lamido Rejects Coalition as LP Coordinators Endorse Tinubu

2027 election political alignments are rapidly taking shape as former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido firmly rejects joining the proposed African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain dismissed rumors that he would abandon his long-standing party for a new opposition platform ahead of the next polls.

Lamido emphasized that the PDP remains his political heritage, noting that the party previously entrusted him with major roles, including Minister of Foreign Affairs and state governor. He criticized current opposition coalition efforts as merely a gathering of individuals, contrasting it with organic, structured platform mergers.

Shifting 2027 Election Political Alignments in the Opposition

Concurrently, former leaders of the 2023 Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council have officially withdrawn their support for Labour Party candidate Peter Obi. These former campaign coordinators publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for a second term.

The defecting group pledged to actively mobilize voters and campaign for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the national polls.

Speaking for the group, Mr. Fagbenro-Byron praised the Tinubu-Shettima ticket for demonstrating strong teamwork and intellect.

The former Labour Party supporters noted that the current presidency has largely dispelled previous fears regarding the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Support for the incumbent is also emerging from civic organizations in the capital. The FCT Workers’ Group recently backed Tinubu’s re-election bid, commending the president for confronting difficult economic reforms instead of running away from them.

These early endorsements and rejections highlight the intense political mobilization already underway nationwide. As political figures and grassroots organizations declare their positions, political organizations are actively positioning themselves around competing candidates and policy agendas long before the election year.
